Women’s Plus Size
If you are a plus size woman and are not sure what will suit you, then this article has some gems for you. You will not have to worry about what to do and what not to do anymore.
From one plus size woman to another, here are my favorite tips to ensure your wardrobe will flatter your shape!
1. Wear fitted clothes
So many plus size women wear saggy baggy and shapeless clothes. This is a crying shame! I’m not advocating you wear skin tight clothing as this will just make you feel uncomfortable and self conscious.
I recommend buying clothes with proper tailoring because this will make you appear smaller than you really are. Go for clothing styles that accentuate your figure features - do not follow fashion fads. This usually means buying slightly more expensive clothes.
This is worth it because higher quality clothing usually has a better cut. A well designed cut never goes out of fashion and will see you through many seasons - not just a quick fashion trend.
2. Black is Boring!
Women who are a plus size wrongly believe the only flattering color they can wear is black. Wrong, wrong and wrong again! I recommend getting your colors done from a “Color Me Beautiful” Color Consultant. This will open you up to a new palette of colors you had never considered before!
Your hair color, eye color and skin complexion are all taken into account when determining which colors will best suit you. Not many people actually suit black. Ditch this color - it is aging and too harsh for most people.
3. Wear the right bra size
It’s astonishing but 77% of women are wearing the wrong bra size! I recommend you get measured professionally. Most lingerie department stores offer free fittings. Because there is so much variation between different brands you will likely be a different size for each brand.
When you are wearing the correct bra size for the brands you like your clothes will hang better. A properly supporting bra should add some lift without hurting you feel extremely comfortable.
Signs you are definitely wearing the wrong size include: your bra straps digging into your shoulders and back, the back strap riding up your back, your breasts spilling out of the cups.
4. Dressing well has nothing to do with fashion
This may sound strange but it’s true. Fashion comes around in cycles and keeps repeating itself. When you choose clothes that compliment you that’s when you know you’ve got it right. You don’t want to meet someone and have them say they like your dress.
You want someone to say wow YOU look good. Your clothes are there to bring out your features. Knowing what does and doesn’t suit you is what it all boils down to.
