Clothes for Plus Size Women
When you know how to wear plus size clothes it’s easy to look good. Mainly it is just common sense. I hope you enjoy these tips…
1. Plus Size Panties
Many plus size women wear their panties too tight. This results in a visible panty line showing from the woman’s behind which is not attractive.
Panties for any woman are sized by the hip measurement. Keep in mind that different brands have different sizing. Know which size you are for your favorite brands. Your panties should be fitting but not dig tightly into your skin.
2. Stripes
Depending upon where stripes are stripes can be an asset or a hindrance. One definite stripe no-no is broad stripes going across the bust area. This is because an optical illusion that occurs where the area that is already large appears even larger.
Stripes however, can be used to your advantage by wearing them vertically. Seriously, by simply picking stripes that are running vertically, such as pinstripes in a nice formal suit a plus size person will appear thinner.
3. Blouses and Suit Jackets
Blouses, and suit jackets should be fitting and emphasize your best features. Look for an empire waist where the waist is right below your bust. This will hide most of a plus size woman’s belly.
Another option is to go for the natural waist look, which like the empire waist is higher up than most waistlines. This brings the eye up, away from the lower part of the body where a plus size person may have too many extra pounds. The natural waistline will help hide them.
Cap sleeves are not recommended for plus size women. This is because the sleeves cut off at the very top of your arm. This doesn’t look flattering if you have thick arms. Wearing a cap sleeve will make your arms look even thicker!
The most flattering sleeve length for a plus size woman is 3/4. They are especially flattering when slightly loose or A-line. Wearing an attractive bracelet or bangle draws attention away from your body and to your hands.
4. Pants
I would not recommend pants with elasticized waist bands. These will make plus size women appear bigger and are not flattering on anyone - even those skinny twiggy-like women.
Darts can be used, but they need to be placed carefully. Pleated pants actually look better. You may be able to find pants with a tummy panel in which helps hold everything in!
5. Color
Not enough women experiment with different colors. Yes darker colors will make you look thinner but sticking to black all the time is dull.
A good rule of thumb is to wear darker colors on the bottom half of your body and lighter colors on top. when you wear the same color from head to toe this also creates a slimming effect.
Do not shy away from bright colors. If you are tentative why not start with a few accessories first? Try a bright scarf or different shoe color.
